Larinġ t'Għawdex : ウィキペディア英語版 | Larinġ t'Għawdex
Larinġ t'Għawdex refers to the sweet oranges found on the island of Gozo in Malta. The cultivation of oranges in the Maltese islands was introduced during the Arab period, which lasted from 870 to 1091. The Arabs planted new fruits in Malta and introduced a number of agricultural innovations, especially in matters of irrigation and harvesting. Until the 14th century, only bitter oranges were cultivated on the island. The sweet orange was introduced by Portuguese sailors, who imported it from India and quickly spread it around the entire Mediterranean coast. Today the cultivation of oranges defines the landscape on the island of Gozo. == References ==
